Barren River Lake State Park hosts Sandhill Cranes viewing two weekends

The Barren River Lake State Park is looking for Sandhill Cranes.
And, you can help find them during its Nature Watch Weekends, next weekend, Jan. 21-22, and again on Feb. 18-19.
Wayne Tamminga, a wildlife biologist with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, will offer educational sessions each Friday at 7 p.m.
There will be two trips to view the Cranes, a morning sunrise trip and a sunset trip. The morning trip will take viewers to the roosting site before sunrise to experience the cranes leaving their roosts as they journey to nearby cornfields for the day. The sunset trip will allow viewers to see the birds in the cornfields and ends at the roosting site. Each will be led by naturalists from the Kentucky Department of Parks.
Registration is $30 per person and includes the Friday educational session, a sunrise or sunset field trip, boxed meal, and a T-shirt.  Registration forms are available online at http://parks.ky.gov/findparks/resortparks/br/.
