Barren River and Lake continue to rise

   The Barren River and Barren River Lake continue to rise following rain the past two days. It looks as if the region will remain dry through the weekend.
   The Barren River Lake stood at 557.56 ft. and rising, as of 9:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 9. The National Weather Service is predicting that it will crest at 560.4 ft. on Saturday, March 12. The Summer Pool is 552 ft., while Flood Stage is 590 ft.
   According to the National Weather Service, a crest at that level will cause flooding at the State Park Beach, Bailey’s Point and Quarry Road Recreation Area parking lots, the access road to the Girl Scout Camp, and the Walnut Creek Marina parking lot.
   The Barren River at Bowling Green stood at 13.88 ft. and rising, as of 9:45 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 9. It is well below its Flood Stage of 28 ft.
