Runners invited to run through parks; series opens April 9, Barren River in May

On your mark! Get set! Go!
   Runners are invited to participate in the 7th annual Kentucky State Park Race Series, that will begin April 9 with the Goose Creek 5K at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville. The Goose Creek 5K is the first of four state park races scheduled this year. The remaining races will be:
– Barren River 5K at Barren River Lake State Park on May 14,
– Possum Ridge 5K at Taylorsville Lake State Park on June 11
– Magnolia 5K at Rough River State Park on July 9.
  Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners of each race. First and second awards will also be given to runners in each male and female age group.
   For those who participate in the four-race series, first and second place overall winners will receive awards and a Kentucky State Parks gift card. Those winners will be announced at the July 9 Magnolia 5k. Other series’ participants will receive a certificate and be registered for special prizes.
   Entry fees for the 5K races are:
   – Individual 5K race: preregistration $15, day of race $20
   – Four-race series: preregistration $50 (only before April 9)
5K Family Fun Walks Scheduled
   In addition to the 5K races, there are also 5K Family Fun Walks scheduled in conjunction with each race. Everyone, young and old alike, including pets, may participate in the Family Fun Walks.
   Entry fees for the Family Fun Walks are:
   – Individual Family Fun Walk: preregistration $10; day of race $15
   – Four-series Family Fun Walk: preregistration $30 (only before April 9)
