B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Tournament fishing Barren River Lake April 13-15

The B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Southern Divisional Tournament will be fishing Barren River Lake Wednesday, April 13 – Friday, April 15. Daily launches are at 6 a.m. with weigh-ins each day beginning at 2 p.m. Both are scheduled at the Barren River Lake State Park ramp and marina. They are free and open to the public.
Teams representing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, plus two Junior Bassmasters from South Africa, will be competing for a birth in the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship. Each team consists of seven boaters, seven co-anglers, two alternates, and two juniors, totaling 128 participants in the tournament.
Early predictions were for heavy weigh-ins all three days; however, with Monday’s and Tuesday’s rains totalling almost 4 inches, the predictions may be unrealistic. Barren River Lake has Bass upwards of 7-8 lbs., but finding them in a rising and muddy lake will be a challenge for the most seasoned fisherman.
The winning team will win a Skeeter ZX 190, Yamaha VZ 150, trailer, Minn Kota Fortex 80 trolling motor, Humminbird 788c and a prop, valued at $35,000, for its state.
The top fisherman from each team will advance to the 2011 B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship presented by Yamaha and Skeeter Boats, in October, with an opportunity to advance to the 2012 Bassmaster Classic in February.
The Bassmaster Federation Nation Championship overall winner will also advance to the Bassmaster Elite Series.
The B.A.S.S. Federation Nation is a collection of locally organized clubs in 47 states and six countries.
