Barren River Lake State Park hosting State Park Race Series 5K on May 14

   Runners and walkers from across the Commonwealth will be racing and walking across Barren River Lake State Park Saturday, May 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. It is the second event in the 2011 Kentucky State Parks Race Series, hosted by a different state park each month, April – July.
   Runners will participate in a 5K race, while walkers will be participating in a 5K “Get Fit” Walk.
   Overall male and female runners will receive awards. First and second awards will also be given to runners in each male and female age group. Registration fee also includes T-shirts that are guaranteed for pre-registered runners, and while supplies last for day of race registrants.
   Walkers will be eligible for door prizes and receive a certificate of participation. “Get Fit” 5K Walk registration also guarantees T-shirts for pre-registered walkers, and while supplies last for day of walk registrants. The “Get Fit” Walk is open to all ages, strollers and pets.
   Entry fees for the 5K races are:
   – Individual 5K Race: preregistration $15, day of race $20
   – Individual “Get Fit” Walk: preregistration $10, day of race $15

   – Possum Ridge 5K at Taylorsville Lake State Park on June 11
   – Magnolia 5K at Rough River State Park on July 9.
