Barren River Lake July 4 fireworks set, other area celebrations will be on July 1

   The annual July 4 fireworks at the Barren River Lake State Park are scheduled for 9 p.m. (at dark) Monday. Activities will begin at the park at 5 p.m. with food vendors and a band performing at the tennis court shelter. The fireworks are visible from a variety of sites around the lake. There is no admission.
   The annual fireworks are sponsored by the Friends of Barren River Lake, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The show is made possible through donations. Tax-deductible donations to the organization may be made to Friends of Barren River Lake, Inc., P.O. Box 213, Glasgow, KY 42142-0213. Receipts will be provided upon request.
   The Fourth of July Beach Party will not take place due to the lake’s high water level.
   Following the fireworks, exiting the park will be aided by two lanes of traffic- the left lane will turn onto U.S. 31-E, north toward Glasgow, and the right lane will turn onto U.S. 31-E , south toward Scottsville.

Glasgow to host Nashville Symphony July 1
   The City of Glasgow will host the Nashville Symphony Friday, July 1, at 7 p.m. on its Square. The concert will feature classical and patriotic music. There is no admission.
   Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. Food vendors will be available around the Square.
   From Barren River Lake State Park, go north on 31E to Glasgow and turn right on to South Green Street at the fourth traffic light. South Green Street will lead directly to the Square.  
Scottsville’s White Plains Baptist Church Celebration July 1
   The annual White Plains Baptist Church “God Bless America” celebration will be Friday, July 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m., on the church grounds. There will be food, children’s activities, music and fireworks, after dark. There is no admission.
   Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.
   From Barren River Lake State Park, go south on 31E to Scottsville. The church is located at the intersection of the third traffic light in Scottsville on 31E.
Thunderfest at Corvette Museum in Bowling Green July 1
   The annual Thunderfest, sponsored by Citizens First, will be at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green on Friday, July 1. The celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with children’s activities, live music by the Tyrone Dunn Experiment and fireworks at dark. Food vendors will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Admission is $5 per person or $15 per car load.
   From Barren River Lake State Park, go south on 31E to Scottsville and turn right at the second traffic light in Scottsville on to Hwy. 231 (also known as Scottsville Road). In Bowling Green, take I-65 North to the second exit (Corvette Museum will be visible on left from interstate).
