Quarry Rd., Beaver Creek beaches open; state park beach closed remainder of year

The Quarry Road and Beaver Creek beaches on Barren River Lake opened to the public today, July 29, as the lake fell to summer pool (552 ft.).
In addition, the beaches at area campgrounds have also opened, but only to registered campers.
The Barren River Lake State Park beach will be closed the remainder of the year.
The beaches at the Quarry Road and Beaver Creek recreation areas and the state park beach are the only public beaches on Barren River Lake.
The Quarry Road beach is located next to the dam and is the larger of the two beaches. A gate attendant will be at its entrance to collect user fees through Labor Day, Sept. 5. The day-use fee is $1 per person, with a maximum of $4 per carload.
The Quarry Road, Beaver Creek and campground beaches are maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. For more information about the beaches, log on to Barren River Lake Beaches
All beaches around Barren River Lake had been closed due to high water.

Am I permitted to put my kayak on the lake at the Quarry Road Beach? I have done so many times last summer but was told this last weekend by a person working the gate that our kayaks and canoes (no motors) had to be put in elsewhere.
