Scouts set to invade Barren River Lake Tailwater Campground on Aug. 12-14

Over 400 scouts and their leaders are expected to spend this weekend, Aug. 12-14, at the Barren River Lake Tailwater Campground at the 18th annual Barren River Scout Celebration.
This year’s theme is “Peace and Friendship Come Together.”
Since 1993, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has sponsored a celebration for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts throughout the Barren River District. The jamboree-type event will allow the scouts to exhibit their talents with exhibits, in competitions, and all in an atmosphere of fellowship.
Activities will include fishing, archery, water safety, cooking competition, a living pioneer encampment, exhibits, and junior olympics. Saturday from 3-5 p.m., the scout exhibits will be open to the public at the campground.
