Barren County’s 11th annual Global Fest set for Glasgow’s square Sept. 3

   Barren County’s 11th annual Global Fest in the Barrens is scheduled for the Glasgow square, this Saturday, Sept. 3, from 10 a.m-8 p.m. The entire day of activities is FREE.
   The day-long celebration is dedicated to diversity, as well as similarities of countries and cultures around the world.
   Visitors will be able to experience the culture of over 40 different cultures in an international exhibit from Lindsey Wilson College.
   The day will be filled with music from Gospel to country to Motown to the blues, and even Hispanic. Bands scheduled to perform are the Zion Hill Boom Squad and Diamond Praise Dance, the Crossland Community Church Praise Band, Mexican Artist-Mariachi Band, the Ernie Small Blues Band, the Bailey Birge Band, and Jenny Lu & Klassic Krew.
   Dancing demonstrations and opportunities will be provided by the Zingara Belly Dancers, Lindsey Syra (Zumba), Ricardo Huffman (Electric Slide and Hip Hop), the Home School Dance Team, and All About Dance students.
   There will also be a Teen Idol (ages 13-19) singing contest with cash prizes. Applications will be accepted at www.barrenglobalfest.com or call 270-404-5175.
   In addition, The Omega Force Christian Strong Team will share its message through strength demonstrations.
   All makes and models of cars, trucks and motorcycles will be on display around the square in the annual Charles Mansfield Auto Show.
   Children will have their very own area that will include face painting, inflatables, crafts, entertainment by Broadway the Clown, along with Dora the Explorer and Scooby Doo look-alikes, and Bowling Green Hot Rods’ mascot- Axle.
   Adult activities will include BBQ eating, pie eating, watermelon eating, and a cake walk. 
   Food vendors also be on hand with a variety of offerings.
   The day will come to an end with a performance by the Tyrone Dunn Experiment.
