Narrows, Beaver Creek campgrounds close; Tailwater reduces services

   The Narrows and Beaver Creek campgrounds have closed for the year and the Tailwater Campground has reduced services available to campers.
   The Tailwater Campground remains open and is free to campers; however, there is no water or electrical service. In addition, the shower houses have also closed and only pit toilets are available for use. There is not a park attendant on duty.
   Hunters who may use the Tailwater Campground during the season are reminded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that all weapons must be unloaded in the campground.
   Bailey’s Point Campground will remain open through the third weekend in October, Oct. 16.
   The campground at the Barren River Lake State Park will remain open through Monday, Oct. 31. For more information or to make reservations, log on to Barren River Lake State Park Campground.

   The Barren River Lake State Park will celebrate National Public Lands Day with a canoe trip this Saturday, Sept. 24. The trip will last 5-6 hours around the lake. Pre-registration is $20 per participant. This includes instruction, use of canoe, paddle, lifejacket, and guided tour.
