“Taste of Germany” to conclude series at Barren River Lake State Park restaurant

   A “Taste of Germany” on Thursday, Oct. 6, will conclude the Barren River Lake State Park’s “Taste of Europe” fine dining series. The Driftwood Restaurant in the Louie B. Nunn Lodge will be serving the German menu from 5-9 p.m.
   The cost of the buffet and drink is $14.95, tax not included.
   Here is the German menu for the evening.
Deutsch Beef Rouladen– This authentic beef rouladen recipe is a real treat, especially for company, birthdays, and holidays. Seasoned top round slices of beef filled with pickles, bacon and onion and rolled then braised until tender.
Sauerbraten– A pot roast of beef marinated in vinegar, water, wine, and spices before being cooked.
Schweineschnitzel mit Jägersauce– A breaded pork cutlet sautéed and served with Hunter’s sauce.
Brathühnchen– Roasted chicken with vegetables and herbs.
Pochierter Fisch– Poached Cod with Mustard sauce
Deutsch Rotkohl– German red cabbage.
Gebackener Butternusskürbis mit Tomaten– Roasted butternut squash with tomato and bleu cheese.
Champignons mit Sahnesosse– Fried mushrooms with cream.
Kartoffelpuffer– Potato pancakes.
Kartoffelsalat– German potato salad.
Gurkensalat– Creamy cucumber salad.
Grüne Bohnensuppe– Green bean soup.
Kartoffelsuppe– Traditional cream of potato.
Schwarzwälder Kirschnachspeise– Black Forrest Cake.
Rote Grütze– Described as Germany’s national dessert! Traditionally made with half red currants and half raspberries, there are many variations possible. It is a fruit pudding.
Apfel-Puddingkuchen– Apple pudding cake.
Rhabarber-Erdbeer-Kuchen– Rhubarb and strawberry pie.
