Leave No Trace while enjoying outdoors

As the Trashmaster Classic reminds us every year, some people are not responsible caretakers of nature, including our own Barren River Lake. This year’s Trashmaster Classic collected 915 bags of trash, plus 162 tires.
We should all be responsible and take care of our natural resources, not only so we can continue to enjoy them,  but so future generations can have the same enjoyment that we have.
It is simple- Leave No Trace. In other words, leave those areas that we enjoy, just like we find them.
The nonprofit organization, Leave No Trace, encourages responsible enjoyment of the outdoors. Among its many efforts, it has established seven basic principles:
– Plan Ahead and Prepare (details)
– Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces (details)
– Dispose of Waste Properly (details)
– Leave What You Find (details)
– Minimize Campfire Impacts (details)
– Respect Wildlife (details)
– Be Considerate of Other Visitors (details)
