For 2012, resolve to become a member and support Friends of Barren River Lake

   Start the New Year right by becoming a member of the Friends of the Barren River Lake. Help make Barren River Lake a better place.
   Friends of Barren River Lake is a not-for-profit partner with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Commonwealth of Kentucky, area government agencies, and tourism organizations, plus local businesses and individuals that helps to oversee the management of the Barren River Lake. 
   The organization became Friends of Barren River Lake in 2007, after being originally chartered in 1987 as the Barren River Regional Water Safety Council.
   Its vision statement includes conservation, education and communication.
   But, the organization is, perhaps, best known for its sponsorship of the annual 4th of July Fireworks at the state park. In addition, they also play active roles in the annual Trashmaster’s Classic, environmental projects and community leadership programs.
   There are a number of volunteer opportunities available.
Tax-deductiable memberships are:
– Annual Membership, individual or family, $10,
– Lifetime Membership, individual or family, $50,
– Best Friends memberships begin at $250.
