Beaches closed Memorial Day weekend

The Quarry Road Beach, along with the remaining beaches around Barren River Lake, will not be open this Memorial Day weekend due to low water.

Beaches on Barren River Lake will be closed this Memorial Day weekend.
For the third consecutive Memorial Day holiday, beaches around Barren River Lake will be closed- the past two years due to high water; however, this year, beaches will be closed due to low water.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ operated beaches (Quarry Road, Beaver Creek, Bailey’s Point), along with the Barren River Lake State Park beach, will be closed due to low water.
Barren River Lake is forecast to reach 547.7 ft. at 8 a.m. Saturday, which is over 4 ft. below the summer pool of 552 ft. For more information on Barren River and Barren River Lake water levels, click Water Levels.
And, with no rain predicted between now and Monday, the lake is not expected to reach a level adequate to open the swimming beaches for the weekend. For the weather forecast, click Weather Forecast.
The beaches will open as the water level permits.
