Poker Run to benefit Friends of Barren River Lake & Park and July 4 fireworks

The Barren River Lake Poker Run on Saturday, June 9, will benefit the activities of the Friends of Barren River Lake & Park, which include the annual July 4 fireworks (set for Wednesday, July 4).
But, participants will benefit as well, with over $850 in prize money to be awarded.
Registration for the Barren River Lake Poker Run will be from 9-11:30 a.m., at the Barren River Lake State Park Beach. There is no preregistration.  (The beach remains closed to swimmers due to low water levels.)
Each boat may play multiple hands. There is no limit. Entry fee is $25 per hand.
The first group of boats will be released to the course at 10 a.m. However, this is not a race against the clock. Enjoy yourself as you traverse the Barren River Lake collecting your winning hand.
The course will have five locations from which you will receive a card for your Poker hand. Straight five card Poker rules apply. No wild cards.
The cards will be sealed in envelopes, and must remain sealed until opened by judges.
All boats will have until 4 p.m. to have returned and submitted their hands to the judges.
Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. at the Barren River Lake State Park Beach.
First prize is $500; second prize is $250; and third prize is $100.
There will also be Luck of the Draw prizes for those with “not so good” hands.
In addition to the Poker Run, there will be raffles, concessions and games for the kids.
