Sandhill Crane hunting season applications accepted Nov. 15-30

Sandhill Crane hunting applications will be accepted by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources on its site, Licenses and Permits, beginning Thursday, Nov. 15, through Friday, Nov. 30. There is a $3 application fee.
Applicants must have a valid Kentucky hunting license or be license exempt.
Drawing for the Sandhill Crane hunting permits will be Dec. 5. Successful applicants will be posted online.
The selected hunters must pass an online identification exam before receiving their Sandhill Crane hunting permit.
The state’s second Sandhill Crane season opens Dec. 15 – Jan. 13, 2013, or until the season quota of 400 birds is met.
The daily and season bag limit is two birds.
Hunters must telecheck harvested Sandhill Cranes on the day of harvest of their Sandhill Crane. They must also monitor the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife website daily concerning the season closure and the presence of whooping cranes in the Commonwealth.
Hunters participating in the Sandhill Crane season must also complete a post-season survey by Jan. 25 or lose eligibility to apply for the 2013-2014 season.
