Barren River Lake State Park offers Sandhill Crane viewing January, February

Barren River Lake State Park will once again offer Sandhill Crane viewing weekends.
Nature Watch Weekends are scheduled for Jan. 25-27, and Feb. 8-10, 2013.
The Sandhill Cranes make an annual visit to the shores of Barren River Lake, as well as its surrounding croplands, as they migrate south.
Nature Watch Weekends begin with an educational lecture each Friday at 7:30 p.m., by Wayne Tamminga of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. He will provide participants with an overview of the Sandhill Cranes.
Registration is $30 per adult, $18 per child (8-12 years). The fee includes Tamminga’s presentation, a box lunch, a T-shirt and a choice of one viewing- either Saturday sunrise, Saturday sunset or Sunday sunrise.
Barren River Lake State Park is offering a $49.95 plus tax room special for participants. To make a reservation, call 1-800-325-0057 or 270-646-2151 and ask for the Sandhill Crane lodge room rate.
