Narrows Marina reopening set for April

The Narrows Marina is on schedule for an April reopening, according to Wayne Shelton, a partner in the marina.
He and Henry Funk, are the new lease holders of the marina.
Shelton said that slips for 35-40 houseboats and 65-70 pontoon boats should be ready for occupancy by April 15.
At a later date, the Narrows Marina will include a store, restaurant, gas, a pump station, and Internet access.
He said that, upon completion, the Narrows Marina will be similar to the Barren River Lake State Park Dock, of which he and Funk also hold the lease. They also hold the lease on the Walnut Creek Dock.
Shelton and Funk began remodeling the Narrows Marina in early January, after being awarded its 20-year lease.
He said that upon completion, their estimated investment will be close to $2 million.
In addition to the Narrows Marina, the Narrows Recreation Area, including the boat ramp, is closed.
Only persons with written permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers may enter The Narrows Recreation Area as marina repairs and construction continue.
The Narrows Campground, which is closed until May 3, 2013, will not be affected.
For more information about The Narrows closing, contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Barren River Lake Project Office at 270-646-2055 from 6:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
