Barren River Lake State Park golf pro Carmello Benassi honored by Ky. PGA

     Barren River Lake State Park golf professional Carmello Benassi Jr., has been honored by the Kentucky section of the Professional Golf Association as Merchandiser of the Year (resort).
“Carmello is a great example of the excellent golf staff we have at Kentucky State Parks,” said Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker. “I hope golfers will take the opportunity to visit Barren River or another Kentucky State Park course soon.”
     Benassi, who has worked at the Barren River Lake State Park Golf Course since May 2011, was recognized for his skills in merchandising techniques, training, displays, inventory mix and shop operations.
     Benassi has been a PGA professional for over 20 years.
He has previously received PGA honors such as the National Growth of Game award 2004, Kentucky Teacher of the Year 2005, Kentucky Merchandiser of the Year (Public) 2006 and Kentucky Golf Professional of the Year in 2009.
He played on the Western Kentucky University Golf team from 1974-1978.
