Narrows Marina reopens, filling slips

Narrows Marina

The Narrows Marina on Barren River Lake is open again.
It has been closed since Jan. 1.
Wayne Shelton and Henry Funk began remodeling the Narrows Marina in early January, after being awarded its 20-year lease.
The marina is now filling slips, while its store is still a couple of months away from opening.
Shelton said that the marina is about 80 percent complete, with the exception of the store. All of the slips are useable, while minor work continues on walkways and electricity.
The marina has 40 slips for houseboats and 70 slips for pontoon or ski boats.
He said that the marina will add slips if there is a demand.
The marina’s store, restaurant, gas pumps, a pump station, and Internet access are scheduled for completion by June.
Upon completion, the estimated investment will be close to $2 million, Shelton said.
He said that the Narrows Marina will be similar to the Barren River Lake State Park Dock, of which he and Funk also hold the lease. They also hold the lease on the Walnut Creek Dock.

I know the marina and campground are closed right now, but who would I contact for advertising, when they reopen for the season? Does Wayne Shelton own the campground too or just the marina?

What is the fee for pontton docking? Thanks

There is a $3 boat launch fee at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ ramps around Barren River Lake. You can get a seasonal boat launch sticker for $30. As for docking, marinas around the lake charge a variety of fees that you may want to check into.
