Barren River Lake campgrounds begin opening for busy spring, summer

    Barren River Lake campgrounds are opening for campers as the weather warms and activity begins to pick up around the lake.
   The Barren River Lake State Park Campground opened March 29 for campers. It has 98 standard sites with electric and 2 tent sites. There is also a boat ramp at the campground, as well as at the park. It is located just inside of Barren River Lake State Park. It will celebrate Camper Appreciate Weekend April 26-27, with camp one night and get the next free. 
   The Walnut Creek Campground opened Monday, April 15. It has 33 standard sites with electric and 33 tent sites. There is also a public boat ramp near. It is located adjacent to the Walnut Creek Marina at 1994 Walnut Creek Road.
   The Baileys Point Campground, Barren River Lake’s largest campground, will open tomorrow, April 19. It has 148 standard sites with electric and 53 standard sites with no electric. There is also a boat ramp for campers. It is located at 3170 Baileys Point Road.  
   The Narrows Campground will open Friday, May 3. It has 89 standard sites with electric. There is also a public boat ramp near. It is located at 1880 Narrows Road, adjacent to the newly-renovated Narrows Marina.
   The Tailwater Campground, located at the base of the Barren River dam on the Barren River, will open Friday, May 3. It has 48 standard sites with electric. There is also a boat ramp on the Barren River for campers. Access to Barren River Lake is across the dam at Port Oliver Recreation Area boat ramps.
