Glasgow Highland Games May 31- June 2

   The Glasgow Highland Games are scheduled for Friday, May 31, – Sunday, June 2, at the Barren River Lake State Park.
   This year’s games will host the North American Scottish Athletics Championship between Team USA and Team Canada. The championship games will be on both Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2.
   Festivities begin Friday, May 31, at 7 p.m., with the annual Raising of the Clans Torchlight Ceremony and Ceilidh (Scottish Folk Concert) at the Plaza Theatre in Glasgow. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children (6-12 yrs.), and will be available at the door.
   The Opening Ceremonies of the Games and Massed Bands will be Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at the St. Andrew’s Field at the state park.
   Athletic events, competitions, children’s games, entertainment, demonstrations, and vendors will be begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the St. Andrew’s and Strathbarren Fields, and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
   Scheduled entertainment will include Father, Son and Friends; Colin Grant-Adams; Rathkeltair; Strings of Erin; and Seven Nations.  
   Tickets for both days are $20 for adults, $5 for children (6-12 yrs.); Saturday only tickets are $15 for adults, $3 for children; Sunday only tickets are $10 for adults, $3 for children.
   The annual Tartan Ball, as well as the Rockin’ Under the Stars Concert, will be Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets for the Tartan Ball are $45 per couple or $25 for singles. Tickets for the Rockin’ Under the Stars Concert are $10, children (6-12 yrs.) $5.  
   The Highland Games will close Sunday at 4 p.m., with the Chef’s closing remarks.
