Barren River Lake Poker Run Saturday, Aug. 3, will benefit the Friends of Lake

Editor’s Note: I want to encourage you all to come out Saturday and support the Friends of Barren River Lake & Park. The Poker Run is for a good cause and it is fun! I will be there and I hope to see you there too.

The Barren River Lake Poker Run will be this Saturday, Aug. 3, to benefit the Friends of Barren River Lake & Park.
The Friends use the funds from the Poker Run to sponsor the annual Trashmaster’s Classic (Sept. 21) and the July 4 fireworks.
Registration for the Poker Run will be at the Barren River Lake State Park beach from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Entry is $25 per “hand,” and there is no limit to the number of “hands” that you may play. (The more “hands,” the more opportunities to win!)
The best Poker hand will win $500, second best hand $250, and third best Poker hand will win $100. For non-winners, there will be two Wild Card drawings for $50 each.
In addition, $5 raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win a flat screen TV, diamond earrings, gas grill, and a $100 gift certificate. The winners will be announced Saturday.
Straight five card Poker rules apply.
Participants will receive a total of five cards, each sealed in an envelope.
Cards will be collected, after registration, by visiting the Barren River Lake State Park dock, the Narrows Marina dock, the Peninsula Marina dock, and the Walnut Creek Marina dock (in any order). The final card will be given at check-in at 4 p.m. at the state park beach.
Participants may travel by water or land.
This is not a race; rather an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon on the lake and a chance to win prizes while doing it.
At 4 p.m., all participants will return their “hands” to the state park beach, where the winners will be announced at 5 p.m.
Cash prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded after check-in at the beach.
You must be 18 to participate.
Brochures and information about the Poker Run are available for pickup at marinas and businesses on the lake, lake marinas, at the Barren River Lake State Park and at the Glasgow-Barren County Tourist Commission office at 118 East Public Square in downtown Glasgow. You can also call 270-646-2055 for information.
The rain date for the Poker Run is Saturday, August 10.
