Barren River Lake to host annual Scout Celebration at Tailwater Campground

   Barren River Lake and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host the 20th annual Scout Celebration Aug. 9-11, at the Tailwater Campground.
   This year’s theme, “Scouting Marches On,” celebrates the continued successes of the Boy Scouts of America (founded in 1910) and the Girl Scouts of the USA (founded in 1912) as they move forward. 
   Troops of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Venture Crews will participate in the three-day event.
   During the Celebration, the participants will showcase their skills, achievements and talents. They will demonstrate skills by setting up campsites and building their gateways. They will also set up exhibits on Saturday afternoon (that are open to the public).
   Throughout the camp, there will be a variety of events:
– Scouting Skills
– Campfire Cookoff
– Junior Olympics
– Archery
– Marbles
– Horse Shoes
– Volleyball
– Short Wave Radio
– Pioneer Encampment Skills
