Some Barren River Lake recreation areas and boat ramps will close Sunday, Oct. 6

   The recreation areas and boat ramps at Baileys Point, Tailwater, the Overlook and Quarry Road will close Sunday, Oct. 6, due to the government shutdown.
   The four areas are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Barren River Lake .
   The closure times will vary due to campgrounds (Baileys Point, Tailwater) not closing until later in the day (4:30 p.m.).
   Overlook and Quarry Road will be closed early Sunday morning, while Tailwater and Baileys Point will close mid-afternoon.
   The Baileys Point and Tailwater campgrounds will close at 4:30 p.m. These campgrounds will remain closed for the duration of the government shutdown.
   If the shutdown is still in effect on Oct. 15, Baileys Point campground will not reopen until next season.
   All other Corps operated areas at Barren River Lake, including Port Olver Recreation Area, will remain open and reservations for facility rentals, such as picnic shelters and permits for special events, such as boating tournaments, will be honored.
   No new reservations or new special event permits will be accepted until the government reopens for business.
   Other recreation areas at Barren River Lake not affected by the government shutdown include Austin, Walnut Creek and the Barren River Lake State Park.
