Barren River Lake draw down underway

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has begun the draw down of Barren River Lake to winter pool.
The winter pool level is 525 ft., while the summer pool is 552.
The lake stands at 449 ft., and is falling (dependent on the amount of rains).

With the lake falling, boaters are encouraged to use caution on the lake.
The lake water temperature is also falling.
Barren River Lake  water temperatures have fallen into the 60s, which can cause a threat of hypothermia if a person is in the lake too long.

Veterans Honored

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will waive all day use fees for veterans, both active and reserve, and their families on Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
