Barren River Lake State Park to host Glasgow Highland Games June 3-5

The Glasgow Highland Games is scheduled this weekend, June 3-5 at the Barren River Lake State Park. This annual event brings clans from around the world to Barren River Lake to celebrate their Scotish heritage. All events are at Barren River Lake State Park this year.
Friday, June 3
Activities begin Friday, June 3, with the Lunch with the Chief, Lord Montgomerie of clan Montgomerie. The evening will conclude with the Raising of the Clans Torchlight Ceremony followed by the Ceilidh (Scotish folk concert).
Saturday, June 4
The St. Andrew’s and Strathbarren fields will open at 7:30 a.m. CT, with competitions, vendors and entertainment scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Opening ceremonies and massed bands will be at 11:55 a.m., on the St. Andrew’s field. Athletic competitions will begin at 2 p.m., on both fields. The day will conclude with the Rockin’ Under the Stars concert at 8 p.m., at the St. Andrew’s field pavilion.
Sunday, June 5
The St. Andrew’s and Strathbarren fields will open at 8 a.m. CT, with competitions, vendors and entertainment scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. At 9 a.m., there will be an Interdenominational Kirkin’ of Tartan Worship Service on the St. Andrew’s field. The games will conclude with the Chief’s closing remarks at 3:45 p.m.
