Barren River Lake Fishing Report

By Josh Morris

Austin Walker with a nice slab from Barren River Lake.

Hello folks!
This weekend is free fishing in Kentucky. Get out and wet a line!
Also I will be at Walmart in Glasgow today, June 2, at 5 pm. We will be giving away some Blobfish shades and some online subscriptions to FLW.
I encourage everyone to go fishing on Barren River Lake this weekend!
Catfish are going in the boxes with noodling season now open (as of yesterday, June 1). The water will be full of hand fishermen. There is a tournament June 10 for noodling. Go to Barren Outdoors for details. Catfish are still being found near bluff walls as the look for holes to spawn in.
Bluegill are about finished with their spawn and should be in coves and pockets right now. Crickets work well.
Crappie are about 15 feet deep on wood. Love minnows are good.
Bass are on long points near the channel on pea gravel, around 15 feet deep. Carolina rigged brush Hawgs, dd 22 Normans are doing great. They have been on fire this week. A top water bite has been on as well. Whopper plopper in black.  Early it appears the bass are moving up shallower so shaky head and green stick work has worked. The bass are feeding up.
Next weekend is the FLW BFL on Barren River Lake. Folks will be visiting from many places and the lake will be full. I encourage folks to come see the weigh in at Port Oliver it’s a cool experience.
Be safe and God Bless!

Troy and Jax Stephens enjoyed Memorial Day on Barren River Lake.
