Barren River Lake State Park visitors can enjoy astronomical classes, viewing

Barren River Lake State Park and the Louisville Astronomical Society are sponsoring astronomy classes and viewings this Saturday, July 15, for the public. All events are FREE!
The Louisville Astronomical Society, along with Ken Alderson, NASA Solar System Ambassador will offer opportunities for visitors to ask astronomy questions, observe the heavens with telescopes, and learn from professionals about the sun, stars and constellations.
Noon- 3 p.m.
Visitors can participate in solar observations next to the park’s Louie B. Nunn Lodge. The viewing¬†will show visitors how to safely observe the sky during daylight in anticipation of the Aug. 21, Solar Eclipse, and learn more about the Sun.
7:30 p.m.
The Louisville Astronomical Society will host a Solar System Education class in the Thistle Room (in the basement of the Louie B. Nunn Lodge). Participants will learn about the Solar System through information and pictures.
9 p.m.
There will be a Star Gazing at the park’s Stratton Field (behind the Highland Field on the right, just past the entrance). Observers will view the night sky through high-powered telescopes and learn about the moon, stars and constellations.
