Barren River Rod & Gun Club Youth and Family Field Day scheduled for Sept. 9

The Barren River Rod & Gun Club‘s Youth and Family Field Day will be Saturday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., (rain or shine) at the club at 230 Crow Road in Glasgow. It is free and open to the public.
The Youth and Family Field Day offers a variety of outdoor competitions, such as .22 shoots, archery shoots, casting, trap, tomahawk throw and other outdoor activities. State and community organizations will also be present to offer information, education and safety about outdoor activities.
The Youth and Family Field Day is geared toward introducing youth to outdoor activities.
There will be awards presented to contest winners and door prizes throughout the day.
All events are FREE for youth EXCEPT .22 Rifle Match, .22 Pistol Steel Shoot, Compound Archery Contest and Traditional Archery Contest.
All individuals. 17 and under, must have a waiver (provided by BRRGC on event day) completed by parent or guardian before participating in any event.
Schedule of Events
Tomahawk Fun Throw, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
*.22 Rifle Match (iron sights and optics), begins at 9 a.m.
LKS Casting, 9:30- 10:45 a.m.
Archery Fun Shoot, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
BB/Pellet Fun Shoot, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Archery contests
– 12 years and under 10 a.m.
– kids 13-20 years 10:30 a.m.
*- compound, all ages, 11:30 a.m.
*- traditional, all ages, 12:15 p.m.
LKS Squirrel Shoot 11 a.m.- 12:45 p.m.
*.22 Pistol Steel Shoot, 13 years and older, 1 p.m.
Introduction to Trap, 2:30 p.m.
Demo: making a shelter with a tarp 11:15 a.m.
